Chapter 60. Love Hurts
Lila’s POV
I didn’t even wait. The car door wasn’t even locked, I didn’t think. I just ran out.
“Lila!” Leah’s voice. I heard her shout.
And another one—deeper. Familiar.
“Lila, wait!”
I kicked my shoes and kept running.
I couldn’t breathe. Couldn’t think. My brain was just static.
This stupid red dress.
I hated it so much that I wanted to rip it off my body and that was what I actually did. I held the tail of my dress and the sound of fabric coming apart gave me a little relief. I took my left and ran into the woods, my feet digging into the wet earth
I knew I was just running and didn’t even realize I had already ran deeper into the woods.
Just had to get out.
Away from the lights and the noise and this whole night.
He kissed her.
He just looked right at her with love in his eyes. Like I wasn’t even standing there. Like I was invisible.
He made her his mate.
And me? I was just the fool
