Chapter 15. Challenge

HAZEL’S POV

As I approached one of the exits, Chris stood guard, stopping me.

“No one leaves,” he stated.

I was breathing hard. "No, I have to. The Luna is going to die if I don’t get help from her potions," I explained.

“I’m sorry. I can’t let you leave. It is a death sentence,” Chris said, standing tall and towering above me.

I became furious. How dare he stop me! I am the Beta’s mate, for goodness sake! My words should have power.

“It is an order,” I spat, my voice low and dark, glaring at him, challenging him to defy me.

He stared back but, after a while, gave way. “Thank you,” I said, turning to leave.

“Be careful, please. This is a bad idea,” he called out to me.

“I can handle myself!” I yelled back, disappearing out of his sight.
