ERVIN’S POV

Charles and I had just reached the pack house and walked through the doors when Charles stopped. “Why is it empty? Something is not right.” Charles whispered holding me back.

I laughed. “Right. I gave the order to keep the house workers away from our quarters for a while.”

“No, Ervin. That’s not the right thing to do. He would know that we are on to him if you did that.”

I shook my head. “Not really. It only just looked like a harmless order. No tension or anything.”

“Look, Ervin. Right now. We need to round up every one of the house workers and check every single one of them.”

“Yes. That would be after Stella is involved. She’s the witch here. She would know how to handle this.”

Charles ran a concerned hand through his hair. “She is not as strong as she used to be. I hope this doesn’t take a load on her. I love her too much to see her hurt in any way.”
