Chapter 128. Forging New Paths
For over a week, Red skipped training with the others and spent most of her time in Speed's workshop, learning to shoot and create new weapons. Speed, deeply engrossed, was making a katana for Red.
Red crouched beside Speed and watched as he sharpened the blade. Unlike any sword Speed had made before, this one was crafted with careful detail.
"I'm not sure I can handle a katana," Red admitted. "No weapon seems to suit me, Speed."
Speed chuckled. "You're too attached to the word 'weapon.' Try thinking of it as a tool."
"A tool?"
"Yes, something that helps you survive," Speed said, nodding. "The tool serves you, not the other way around. It's the tool that needs you."
Red grinned in confusion. Speed, being older and having seen a lot in his life, often spoke in challenging ways for Red to fully comprehend.
"Let me give you an example," Speed went on. "If this katana is not used, is it useful?"
Red shook her head. "No, of course not."
