Chapter 199. Within the Depths
Yasmin stood frozen in front of the mound that marked the graves of those who had died. Among them was Flame.
She sighed deeply, knelt down, and choked back tears. Flame's death had been a shock, something Yasmin could never have predicted.
Her mind vividly replayed the moment Flame had shielded Phi, only to be hit by a stream of bullets from a Mecha. Jonah hadn't reached him in time, and it had been disastrous.
Prim walked over to Yasmin and nodded respectfully. "My deepest condolences."
Yasmin only answered with a sigh and cried again.
"We're sorry we weren't at your side when this happened," Prim said.
Yasmin wiped away her tears. "Do you think all this... is it really worth it?"
"I don't know, Yasmin. I'm just doing my duty."
Yasmin shook her head and sniffled. "Flame was only seventeen; he would have been eighteen in a few days. We even talked last night about celebrating his birthday on a free Minerva."
