Chapter 140. The Smell of Chaos
I didn’t stop until I was inside the mansion, the heavy door closing with a dull thud behind me. The opulent interior that usually felt cold now seemed to mock me with its grandeur. My footsteps echoed in the empty foyer as I walked deeper into the house, each step taking me further away from the car, from Josh, and from the mess I had made.
Once I reached the room after climbing the spiral stairs, I reached for the doorknob and opened the door. But when I walked inside, everything seemed to be a mess. There were clothes and things almost everywhere as if someone was rushing to pack up.
Then my eyes fell on Bradley walking out of the walk-in closet. He had a look on his face that made me concerned. “What’s going on?” I asked, walking deeper into the room.
