Chapter 143. Can I Trust Him?

His words hit me like a slap in the face, and I felt a cold shiver run down my spine. Someone I knew? Is someone powerful and influential? My mind started racing, sifting through all the possible people who could have betrayed Mark. 

But the only person who really fitted that mold perfectly was Bradley. It could not possibly be him, could it? What if he had found out that I was willing to make things right with Mark again and because he wanted me all to himself, he outed the guy to the police? 

That was the only reasonable explanation in my head. But I refused to believe it. Maybe this guy was only trying to make me scared.

I let out a shuddered breath before speaking, “I still don’t know where Bradley is.” I kept my ground. 

“Okay,” He replied nonchalantly. “If that is what you’re saying, then I believe you. But Lisa, you have to be careful. You have to evaluate who you can trust or not.” 

“I do know that I don’t trust you.”
