Chapter 142. The Po-Po

The blaring sirens cut through the stillness like a knife, sending a jolt of panic through my body. My heart raced as I stood frozen in the driveway, my mind scrambling to make sense of what was happening. 

They were coming. The police were coming, and they were coming fast. 

I had to move, to think, to act, but my feet felt like they were glued to the ground. The mansion that had seemed so imposing a moment ago now felt like a trap, its walls closing in on me with every passing second. 

“Move, Lisa,” I whispered to myself, snapping out of my paralysis. I spun around and sprinted back into the mansion, my pulse thudding in my ears as I slammed the door shut behind me. I needed to make it look like I had nothing to do with this—like I was just another victim in Bradley’s mess.
