Chapter 168. A Talk with the CEO

I answered the call, my heart racing as I brought the phone to my ear. “Hello?” I was upstairs, in my old bedroom, somewhere that reminded me of Mark. But now, I had to focus on what was happening. I had to focus on telling the CEO about the merger. 

“Lisa, it’s Bradley,” His voice came through, firm but with an underlying edge of annoyance. “Do you have any news for me?” He seemed tensed. 

My heart was racing, thumping so hard in my chest that I thought that I could hear it. “News…” I said the word in a nervous tone. 

“I already know, Lisa. But I need you to tell me. I left you in charge of my life. It may be just a company to you, but it’s my life. It’s my f*cking life, Lisa. I built that with all of me, and now…” He chuckled without humor.
