Chapter 19. Forgiveness and Resignations

I paced around the hallway slowly with the phone to my ear until I finally stopped. I let out a small sigh. “Okay.” 

“What do you mean by okay?” I could hear the hope in Mark’s voice. 

I breathed out shakily. “Okay as in I think I’m ready to forgive you.” A small smile grew on my face as I heard him cheer on the other end of the phone. He sounded like a kid on Christmas morning.

“Oh my god, Lisa. I swear to you that I would be the perfect man! I would never let you feel the pain that I caused you, not ever again!” 

I nodded slowly as if he could see me. “Okay, sounds good. But let’s take it slow, alright?”

“Of course! We can go at a turtle pace if you’d like, I’m fully prepared!” He replied and I laughed genuinely. Telling him that I forgave him made me feel a sense of relief. It was like a heavy load had been taken off my shoulders. 

“That’s fine with me.” I chuckled. “I will call you back and let you know soon when I’m ready to have
