Chapter 84. The Maid

As soon as the scream left my lungs, I just could not stop. I just kept at it until a few guards rushed to my aid. When they entered the room, they looked around as if they could not see what I was seeing. 

“It’s right there, why are you guys acting like you can’t see it?” I asked, still shaken by what was on the floor. It was a body and not just anybody, but the body of one of the maids. I think it was the one who had gotten me the glass of water the last time. 

Her throat was slit open and her eyes were lifeless. Blood was smeared all over the floor and the room smelled like death. 

“Ma’am,” One of the guards spoke finally. “What are you talking about?” 

“The body!” I said in a shaky voice. “Don’t you…don’t you see it?” I tried to control my nerves but it was hard when there was literally a dead body lying right there and the guards were pretending like they could not see it.
