This wasn’t the time to fall apart. If I let my mind wander even for a second, fear would swallow me whole. Elena was still behind those doors, still fighting. Saving her was the only thing that mattered.

I turned and strode back to the operating room entrance. The lead surgeon met me halfway, his face tight with concern.

“Without a matching blood donor, her situation is extremely dangerous,” he said carefully. “But… There is a temporary solution. One that might keep Miss Grey alive long enough.”
