Chapter 22
“Be calm!”
The voice of the one who comes to me is too far away. All I can hear is my own beats and the rake of wings in my head. The raindrops fall harder, making it even more difficult for me to breathe. Tilting my head in a failed attempt to hit the one who holds me, my mouth opens and I choke when the rainwater finds its way to my throat and nose.
With a sequence of three thunders, one of the three rays hits a pole a few meters outside the gates of the clinic. Because I'm struggling and fighting with those who prevent me from jumping to a safe place, I almost miss the moment when all the lights in the city and the Clinic go out. Even in a complete insane state, I know that I am now confined to this small rainy space until the energy is restored.
