MELISSA
Maggie once told me that I was the only person who cared about her, and that I was the only person she loved in the world. But no one can hate the people who were made to love you, I dry my eyes before clicking on the contact and waiting for Maggie's mother to answer my call.
"Hello?" I close my eyes and sigh when I hear the woman's voice on the call.
"Mrs. Johnson, I don't know if you remember me, but I'm Melissa, the friend who lives with your daughter," I say, trying to control the tone of my voice as I listen to the silence on the call.
"Mrs. Johnson?"
"What did she do this time? I told my husband that this girl is a complete wreck; she always says she'll change, but something always happens..." I open my eyes, feeling some kind of rage inside me when I hear her saying horrible things about my best friend.
