"The wounds and struggle marks on her body indicate that Maggie was assaulted by three men, but they didn't sexually abuse her."

That last part should make me feel more relieved, but I don't feel any relief knowing that my best friend was attacked by three men while she was alone and drunk.

"What did the police say?" I asked quickly.

"They managed to arrest one of the suspects and are interrogating him to find the other criminals, but your friend will be fine."

Three men did this to my friend. I'm sure the men are the same men who were sitting in that bar the night before. Somehow, I knew something bad would happen to my friend involving those men, but I wasn't there with her when it happened, and it's impossible not to feel guilty right now.

"Can I see her, doctor?" I ask, and the doctor nods.

"She's unconscious and resting because of the effects of the pain medication she took, but you can see her now."
