I felt relieved knowing that there were more people that now had questioning sensations about Amelia’s death. At least they both won’t look at Don with as much hatred as before. That settled a little string of tensed nerves in my body.
Don and I had agreed, after leaving Carla’s house, that we needed to look into Amelia’s phone. He said he’d ask his lawyer for some kind of permit to access the device. We sincerely hoped that we’d find evidence in the phone to at least vindicate Don from the murder charge and open a new chain of investigations. One that didn’t include Donovan Miner as the prime suspect.
I walked back home after splitting ways with Don at the beginning of his street. I’d have loved to follow him to his place, heck, maybe even stay overnight or longer, but that’d be way too creepy, and knowing his temper, I didn’t want to make his case worse by being another dead body on his file, this time a genuine one.
