Chapter 22
“I’m just of the opinion that Tokyo is a coward.”
Verity was sprawled out on the swinging cushion that hung directly from the high ceiling, with her bowl of popcorn sitting on her lap at an unsteady angle. Her eyes were glued to the TV, and her facial expression showed committed interest, unlike anything I’d seen on her.
“I’m familiar with her kind, the ones that try to overcompensate for their insecurities by being impetuous along with that false sense of bravado...pfft. I’d take Stockholm any day.”
Sergio snickered and playfully threw a piece of snack at her, “Come on, prima, at least admit she’s hot.”
Sam butted in, “Yeah, she’s totally hot-headed.”
There was a pause as everyone considered the play of words. Then came the crowing laughter.
“Ah...I see what you did there,” Mr. Fremund chuckled, looking up from his laptop and squinting at the screen where the main character, Tokyo, was engaged in a shouting match with the rest of her teammates.
