“Get in.” Caspian ordered, his voice firm and commanding as he stepped out of his car, his eyes locked on mine.
“I’d rather not.” I shot back, crossing my arms defiantly. His eyes darkened, and I could see the tension rolling off him in waves.
We stood there, locked in a silent standoff, each daring the other to break first. It felt like an eternity until Victoria nudged me, flashing me a look that said, ‘Girl, if you ain’t getting in, I am.’
“She’s joking.” She chimed, her voice flirty as she swung open the back door. “We could use a ride, right?” She raised an eyebrow at me, a smirk playing on her lips. I shot her a glare, but she just chuckled as she settled into the seat.
With a reluctant sigh, I finally climbed into the passenger seat. Caspian slid into the driver’s seat after me and started the engine. The silence between us was awkward and Victoria picked up on it, glancing at me occasionally from the back seat.
