Caspian came sometime during the night. He didn’t talk; he just held me as I cried in his arms. But by the time I woke up, he was gone. As much as that hurt, it was probably for the best. If his mother found out that we were seeing each other, she wouldn’t be as merciful next time.
I slowly dragged myself to the bathroom, pulling on the biggest hoodie I could find. Tears pricked my eyes as I remembered that it was a gift from Caspian. Burying my face in the fabric, I inhale deeply, his familiar scent lingering there. Before I know it, I’m a blubbering mess once again.
It took me a while to pull myself back together and get ready for school. Now more than ever, I needed to take my studies seriously. Graduation was just a few weeks away, and while I had never considered leaving before, I now understood that I would never be accepted in this pack. The sooner I got the hell out of here, the better.
