If there was one thing Caspian excelled at, it was his uncanny ability to sleep through anything.
Slowly, carefully, I unwrapped his arm from around my waist and slid out of the bed, each movement measured. I froze, holding my breath as he made a small sound, shifting in his sleep. Relief washed over me as he stilled, his breathing deepening once more. I dressed quickly, my movements hushed as I gathered my discarded clothes, pulled on my jeans, and laced up my sneakers.
Peeking cautiously through the crack in the door, I scanned the hallway. The coast was clear. A sigh escaped my lips as I slipped out of the room, my legs shaky as I crept towards the stairs.
My steps faltered as I neared the bottom, my gaze locking on a figure standing by the front door, his eyes narrowed, his expression unreadable.
