“Mother.”
“Karen.”
Caspian and his father warn at the same time, and every nerve in my body tenses. They’re hiding something from me. My brain tells me to flee and never come back, but my foolish heart insists I stay and find out what they are hiding from me.
“What?” I open my mouth to whisper. I turn to Caspian and ask, “What is she talking about?” His eyes plead with me to drop it back. I don’t. I can’t.
I turn to his mother, “What are you talking about? What did my mother do?”
Alpha Silas grabs her arm before she opens her mouth. “We are leaving.” He tries to pull her, but she refuses, looking at me like I was the worst thing that happened to her.
“Your whore of a mother tried to take my mate from me, convinced him to choose her over me.” She spits bitterly.
