Chapter 13

This village is beautiful, Julie thought. She turned to Chloe and saw that the other girl was clearly mesmerized by the scene before them as well. Ryan was trying to hide his amazement, but he wasn’t doing a very good job. His eyes were wide as he stared at all the different houses.

Finally, they reached the center of the town, where there was a large bonfire all ready for them. There were five cushioned chairs placed around a round table off to the side. The table was covered in food, a feast for the King, Queen, and their three guests. They all dismounted their unicorns, and the unicorns ran off to feed on nearby berries. The King and Queen led the way to the table and took their seats. The kids followed and scuttled into their seats just as the King and Queen began stuffing their faces with all the food.

“Dig in,” King Wilfred said with his mouth full. “We’ve been out flying most of the day
