Chloe pulled the map out of her backpack and showed it to the King and Queen. She briefly explained how the map was there when they arrived on the Island, how Chris tried to follow it, and how he died. She went through the story mechanically, not wanting to get too attached or emotional. Her voice was flat, monotone, but Julie could hear it tremble as she described Chris’s dead body.

Julie could taste the fear in the air as Chloe told the King and Queen that they wanted to find the person behind this and kill him. When she was finished, the King and Queen stared at all three children in awe. They couldn’t believe that these children thought they were capable of hunting down someone so evil. They couldn’t believe that the children thought they stood a chance against this force, but they wanted to help.
