I re-adjusted myself on the horse trying not to slide down as it jerked forward; however, my dilemma seemed to be a source of entertainment for Kale, who kept laughing and making jokes about it.

“This place is simply breathtaking.” Claire’s remark caused me to look sideways at what she was referring to.

My heart constricted with a wave of sadness at the awe in her voice, not just because it wasn’t beautiful but because she doesn’t remember it. Each time we've gone riding in the past, we’ve always stopped here to enjoy the view while other times, we came here for a picnic.

“I know right?” I agreed knowing she would be expecting me to say something. Hoping this might help her recall something, I tried to smoothly get down my horse but somehow my leg got tangled with the sandals.
