Chapter 39
Lisa and I went to J&J café since, unofficially, Jia and Joshua are engaged. Their discussion about the possibility of marriage back in our hometown made us smile that they are finally heading towards opening up a new chapter. They've been together since high school, for goodness' sake.
We enjoyed our meals at night and noticed a couple outside bickering. We couldn't hear their conversation, but the woman hit her partner, but not harshly. Her face seemed distraught, and the man felt irritated and let her walk away.
"I hope we don't end up like that," said Jia.
"We're not like them," replied Joshua.
"But it's a possibility. It's all fun and exciting at the start like a fairytale, but it becomes a tragedy once married for a long time."
"Are you comparing our relationship with those two?"
"Don't get mad. I'm just saying it could happen."
