Chapter 49
The stairs led into a strange-looking lab filled with a vast and terrifying assortment of tools, medical instruments, jars of strange liquids, and cages made from old monitors. Even a non-tech could easily tell that this was a place where the wise didn’t want to know what was going on. Adres sat behind a desk in the middle of the room writing notes or something on a piece of parchment.
“You are right, Tomas, I am never that obvious,” Adres said, not even bothering to look up from his work.
“Give it up, Adres!” Bartz ordered. “We have you outnumbered.”
“So what?” Adres snarled, peeking up at them. “I have you outbrained.”
“You pig-headed fool!” Tomas snapped.
“Hardly,” Adres said. He pointed to the helmet on the top of his head. Except for the antenna sticking out of the top, there was absolutely nothing unusual about it.
Tomas gasped. “That cannot be what I think it is.”
“Oh really?” Adres smirked. “Just watch.”
