Chapter 48
They swung their horses around, back onto the track which wound steadily down into the valley.
“Weapons at the ready,” Bartz said as they approached the building.
They were just close enough to consider dismounting when the door of the building swung open and four humanoid frog-like creatures hopped out, large and deadly swords held in their long tongues.
“Now THIS is more Adres’ style,” Tomas said. “He always claimed he could do better than dogmen.”
The lead froggoid mumbled something, but since he was holding a sword in his tongue, he was totally inaudible.
“What did you say?” Bartz said, activating his sword.
The froggoid removed the sword from his mouth, “I said, you may pass no further. Turn and go back, or we will kill you. Ribbit.”
“I’m not falling for that one. You only want us to turn our backs so we will be easier to kill!” Bartz said with a growl.
The froggoid shrugged. “Oh well, it was worth a try. Ribbit.” It leapt, sword
