Chapter 59

Daylight broke as Blue hovered high over TechnoLot. From above, the city looked even more impressive than it did on the ground: gleaming metallic towers, neat houses, old and leafy trees.

As they approached the castle, one of the buttons on Tomas’s computer started to flash wildly.

“Pull back, Blue!” Tomas called.

Blue swerved from her path and slowed down.

“What’s wrong, Tomas?” Bartz asked.

“The castle’s external force field is up.”

“What? Why?” Bartz asked. “What on Aqua is going on?”

“This cannot be good,” Opal said. “We have not used that force field since the last territory scuffles long ago. In fact, I’m surprised it still works.”

The shields of TechnoLot were legendary. They were invisible yet sparked with an energy that could repel all weapons and creatures. Rapha had even imparted some of her magic force to them so they would be immune to magic attacks. Nothing except air molecules could pass in. At least that is what legend
