Chapter 10

POV: Harmony Winters

The windscreen wipers wiped off the drops of rain that showered on my newest car, a blue Maserati, as I drove into the estate. Some minutes later, I parked the car in front of my apartment and took the purple umbrella that I had brought along from the office, from the passenger seat.

After unhooking my seatbelt, I opened the umbrella and stepped out of the car, after which I closed the door and locked the car with its key. I shuddered a bit as I half-walked and half-ran all the way to the porch of my front door.

I scrambled inside my purse for my house keys, which clattered to the floor as soon as I had them in my hands. I bent to pick up the keys and noticed there were muddy footprints on the ground.

From that alone, I could tell that Mason had already gotten home, which was going to have been easy seeing that the school bus usually dropped him off at home. Given that he always had football practice on Mondays, it was reasonable to think
