POV: Rhys Anderson
I couldn’t believe I had lost again against a twelve-year-old. Whatever magic Mason was performing was definitely working for him and I decided to stop putting myself to shame by withdrawing from the video game contest we were having.
“Let’s go for another round,” he said, beaming excitedly, exposing his dental braces.
“So that you can win me again?” I asked, sulking like a child.
“Yes. It’s more fun that way,” he replied, still beaming happily.
“You’re unbelievable. Anyway, I’m backing out and throwing in my towel. You’ve won five times, and I’m pretty sure you would win again. It’s not fun for me to keep losing,” I said, with a pout.
The smile on his face dried up, and he placed the controls on the table. “Sorry about that. I was being insensitive,” he said.
