Some part of me hoped Daciana had made a mistake. Even as I sprinted up to my room, I still hoped it was just a mistake and what she said wasn't actually true. Or that maybe I mishear some part of her words.

But as I got closer to my room, the smell of burning skin became too hard to ignore.

My heart pounded in my chest. A ringing from nowhere filled my ears, making it hard for me to do anything. To even hear the commotion going on inside.

Like I needed any more proof of what was going on.

Donovan was right behind me as we both entered the room. There were multiple guards trooping between my bathroom and back to my bedroom that was now wet from all the water they must have poured on Adriana.

She was still on the floor. Unmoving and the fire didn't look like it was going to stop anytime soon. None of the men paid any attention to me as they kept going on with what they were doing.

I made a mental note give them gifts for real
