Chapter 14
"It was crazy, the other day was crazy. I was calling Jack to ask him where you were, and he said he didn't know. He thought you were with me, but I told him it wasn't the case. Did I mess up, right?"
César looks at me apologetically, biting his nails, and I nod. He really messed up. When I see Jack again, he might not want to talk to me, or perhaps he won't want to talk to me anymore. I think that's why he's been giving me short replies, not telling me about his day or what happened during the week. Instantly, I feel guilty.
"Tell me you've talked to him."
"Where were you that day?" His expression turns serious, which makes me realize we're no longer just playing around or gossiping as friends. We've entered the territory where he genuinely cares about me. I usually hate this side of César. I've never needed him to worry too much about me, especially when I can handle everything on my own. I know he wants to take care of me and needs to have control over everythin
