Chapter 45

(Ava’s POV)

I know I shouldn't stay and gossip about a guest, but Jane and Matilde are my friends. It's normal to have conversations with friends. And if that conversation just so happens to revolve around someone I'm trying to get more information about, there's nothing I can do about it really.

I plant my feet to the floor and listen in. Matilde puts a comforting hand on Jane's shoulder. "I wish I could say I don't know who you're talking about, but I too have had an unreasonable run in with that evil lady. She asked me to change her sheets, claiming she was allergic to blueberry, but when I walked past her that's exactly what I smelt from her perfume! She just wanted to work me for no reason. I'm avoiding her floor till she leaves, but who knows when that would be?"

"People really need to learn how to respect hospitality staff. We could easily make life unpleasant for her, if she doesn't know."
