“Promise me you’ll heal from this. Even if we do not get together, which I still strongly believe we will, even if you eventually do not accept to be my girlfriend this night, I want you to promise me that you would go home and think about everything that has happened and realize that you are lucky to have survived that night because you have a purpose, and that purpose will not be achieved by sitting ducks wailing about something that you cannot change.”
She turns her head away from me and looks towards the lake. “If I forgive myself and move on, whose hearts would they be in? What place on earth would they have?” she asks in a meek, small voice.
