Coughing to try and cover her snicker, Livia murmured, “Don’t take it too hard. Assholes don't like anyone. Not even me.”
Rhye dipped his chin in affirmation, like that made him feel better, punctuating a wink with a smirk. “See? Definitely not a pancake lover.”
That surprised a chuckle out of her. Rhye grinned with her, looking delighted, his eyes sparkling.
“I filled up his food and water dishes before we left.”
“Thank you,” she murmured, then frowned at herself.
