Chapter 53
AMANDA
After the strange conversation with that lunatic, he untied me from the chair and locked me in an iron cage that served as storage. There were boxes everywhere, and I had no interest in knowing their contents. Before leaving, he left a plate of food in front of me and a bottle of water that tasted like heaven as soon as I felt it going down my throat. Hours began to pass, and I no longer knew if it was day or night. I tried my best not to succumb to despair and maintained the thought that they would find me.
This guy wanted something from Emiliana, and he wouldn't harm me as long as he didn't get it, which was a point in my favor. Besides, I had complete faith in Emiliana's abilities to find cracks in anyone's armor. I had to be patient and wait calmly for my rescue. I dropped to the floor and slowly savored the food they provided. I couldn't afford to be weak under any circumstances, and I needed to come up with a plan B in case things didn't go as expected.
