Chapter 10

My heart raced as I stared at the phone in my trembling hand. Tyronne’s question echoed in my ears. But how did he know? Aside from Dad, only Claire was aware of my condition. Perhaps, did Claire betray me?

But no, Claire couldn’t betray me. She even helped me to bribe the doctor! I shook my head in disbelief that my close friend had betrayed me. I didn’t want to believe it but nobody else was aware of my pregnancy! It had been a closely guarded secret so I couldn’t fathom how this information had reached my fiancé.

Then, while pacing back and forth inside my room, my mind raced as I tried to piece together the puzzle. Who could have possibly informed Tyronne about my condition? And who else knew about it?

Although Tyronne and I were not yet married, I was bound to him through a betrothal, and he wasn’t supposed to know that I was pregnant. What should I do now? Should I call him again? Should I tell him that it wasn’t true? But how long could I keep my secret?
