As Lucas and I denied any hint of flirtation, I sensed his concern about winning my heart again. If only he didn't doubt my identity as Caleb Stormheart's daughter, perhaps things would be different. But it seemed I had already lost him.

Ryder didn’t want me to find happiness with anyone else. He just wanted me to stay with him forever. He had a list of strategies to rekindle my interest in him.

Glancing at Lucas again, Ryder clenched his jaw. Amelia’s brother provoked his possessiveness toward me. Despite wanting to lash out at Lucas upon his arrival, Ryder refrained for my sake.

“Well, if you're interested in my wife, then I think we have to talk, Lucas,” Ryder addressed him.
