“That place is under surveillance. They used the restaurant as front and then the rest is history,” Lucas continued.

“Mark is different,” I told him.

“He is human. The owners adopted him to make everyone believe that they are normal people doing business in that town, Scarlett . Still, Mark is guilty. He brings his friends to the restaurant, then his parents would feed on them. Several people have gone missing without a trace. Didn’t you notice something odd about the meat? Some were human meat,” he continued.

“No!”

“You can ask Henry if you don’t want to believe me, Scarlett . Come on, let’s go back to the camp. They are waiting for you,” he said.

“Are they aware that I left?”

“Yes. Everyone is aware but I told them that you just needed time to be alone, to take a walk and think,” he told me.

“Why are you being nice to me, Lucas? I don’t deserve your kindness!”
