Chapter 39

The car’s speed increased, and after several minutes I saw a massive mall in sight. I turned my head to get a clearer view of the mall, and thank goodness it was one I used most times.
I once frequented this mall, so I knew everything about it, the insides, the outsides, and en route.
As we drew nearer to the mall, I could feel my heart thud against my chest harder. Finally, the car pulled over by the parking lot and stopped.
“I’ll be back real quick,” I said to the guard, who didn’t seem to have the ability to smile as she had kept a stern face all through the drive, but what could I say – Ronan must have trained them always to be cold and stern.
“I’m coming with you,” she said with a voice icy cold and rigid, marking a tone of finality.
“Oh, yes, I just didn’t want to stress you,” I explained, but she didn’t respond.
I rolled my eyes as I scanned her thoroughly, finding it funny that she talked with just the same icy demeanor as her
