She let me in and peeped carefully before closing the door. I could tell that she was a little cautious about things.
“I know you don’t want me hovering around you because of the girls,” I said a little too quickly and got caught up in the middle of my words, confused at what to say once again.
“I am not worried. It’s not a problem,” she said, still looking away from me as the atmosphere was tense.
After yesterday’s activities, I didn’t expect things to be the same. Maybe I had hoped for something better, not this cold, empty, awkward atmosphere.
“Where were you off to earlier?” I asked, hoping we could begin a conversation from there.
“It’s morning, and I haven’t had breakfast yet. I was hoping to get a little thing to eat. I didn’t know you were standing at the door,” she explained, causing me to feel like a total stalker.
“I wasn’t standing by the door, you know… I had just wanted to knock when you pulled the door open.”
