Chapter 65. Who Are You?

Adeline’s POV

Hours had passed. The moon had risen, quiet and pale, everywhere was calm. Still, he hadn’t moved, he hadn’t woken up.

And I hadn’t moved from his side.

I just sat there—waiting. Watching. Wondering.

He was a stranger, yes. But something about him... it tickled me, as if we had met before in a place far from here.

I couldn’t explain it. I didn’t even try to.

“You’re still here?” Rosa’s voice came from the hallway as she stepped out of the inner room.

“Yes,” I said, glancing at her for only a second before turning back to him.

“You haven’t left his side one bit.”

“I couldn’t. I’ll stay here overnight and keep an eye on him.”

“Overnight?” Rosa gave me that look. “What if he wakes up and hurts you? Adeline, you’re pregnant.”

“Shhh!” I hushed her quickly, glancing around to make sure no one heard. “Any of the staff could hear you.”
