Chapter 4. I'm Not a Killer

Danas shook his head trying to shake off what Melvin had said to him last night. Her husband's words made her messed up, the accusation that was clearly given by him, clearly he didn't do it.

"I-I'm not a murderer," she thought to herself as she shook her head.

The knife in her hand was chopping onions.

"Madam, let me help," pleaded the middle-aged woman trying to take over what Danas was doing.

"Don't help her." A voice rang out, making the woman immediately look down.

"Chris, don't help me. I can do it myself," Danas refused.

Danas looked at the man who had just made that sound. From the stairs he was staring at Danas with a sharp gaze, his hazel eyes full of hatred, making Danas in the back of the kitchen grasp the knife handle tightly.

Given Melvin's treatment, Danas couldn't stand what was happening, she wanted to end Melvin's accusations against her.

"I'm not a murderer," she said firmly. "I didn't kill, like you said," he said once again.

Melvin, who was buttoning his sleeves, glanced at Danas. The man's smile made Danas swallow his saliva instantly, the man's smile scared him. There was a sense of regret for saying that.

"Not a murderer?" asked Melvin while smiling wryly and looking at Danas.

The girl was frightened by Melvin's devilish gaze.

Melvin still adjusted one of his buttons, then tightened his tie. His footsteps went down the stairs step by step, while there was a girl who was terrified when she saw him.

"Shit. Looks like I dug my own grave. Shouldn't have said that," she swore. ""What should I do?" she panicked. "What do you want? Stop right there." Danas ordered, but Melvin didn't listen.

She was instantly terrified as he saw the man coming down the stairs and approaching him.

"Stop right there, don't come any closer or I'll-kill-"

Seeing the man approaching, his mind instantly thought of hurting himself.

"Do you want to kill me or do you want to kill yourself?" asked Melvin while smiling wryly at her, making her swallow her saliva when her thoughts were known to her husband.

Melvin looked at the middle-aged woman who was near Danas, making the woman leave.

Danas' body instantly stiffened, how could it not, the man was a meter away from him. Melvin glanced at what Danas was doing in the kitchen, then looked into the girl's amber eyes.

Melvin still gave her an evil smile. "Don't think stupid, Danas Cakrawala. Your life is mine." The man emphasized the last sentence, he smiled making the girl in front of him stiffen even more, clenching her hands, and also rounding her eyes. "You want to kill yourself?" he asked again.

The look on her face instantly changed. Cold!

"Don't expect me to let you die in peace, it's good that you want to kill yourself. I won't let you die after what you've taken from me."

Now that her hand was at the base of the girl's neck, Danas immediately rounded her eyes, her breath caught. He was where he wanted to die, yet wanted to live.

The grip of Melvin's big hand, his hand tried to remove the burly hand from his neck, but Melvin's strength was greater than him.

The man before him had never been kind, tears now flowing from the corner of his eyes.

"Shit," Melvin swore as he released his grip. "You put me in a bad mood this morning."

Seeing the tears made him let go of Danas, and stepped away from there. He hated that girl so much, what Danas did was all fake in his eyes. The grudge that made her heart's eyes closed.

The sound of the door opening roughly, and closing made the man who had been waiting for her in the car startled. The man immediately got out of the car and intended to open the rear car door.

But his body was pulled back. "Let me drive myself."

The man wanted to say but Melvin got ahead of him.

Brak!

There was the sound of the car door being closed hard by him, the sound of the car engine, a moment later the car drove through the gate.

"I'm sure something must have happened," the man thought.

The neat clothes, black suit, and round glasses he wears don't make him lose his charm, but the round glasses do. Jefrian-Melvin's driver.

On the way Melvin hit the steering wheel because he was so annoyed, occasionally he shouted on the road, when his car had to stop when the traffic light was red, he cursed.

Everyone who saw him driving himself to the office could only bow their faces in greeting.

Anyone who saw his face would know that the man was upset. If they offended Melvin in the slightest, something would happen, so they were very careful.

Melvin entered the elevator, from behind the man, a man who was in a hurry entered, while several people who had been in the elevator from the beginning immediately got out of the elevator.

The man who came in, turned on the iPad he was holding, he did a few slides.

"I have a meeting with a client today," explained the man who had followed him into the elevator.

"Cancel it!"

"Lunch with-"

"Cancel it!"

"But-" seeing Melvin's expression made him undo what he had said.

That was the schedule that was canceled by his boss.

"They need me, not me needing them. So, just cancel it, we they don't accept it, cancel the cooperation with them, and give a warning so that no branch of the company cooperates with them."

The man who was holding an iPad and wearing glasses could only swallow his saliva, he stared at the back of his superior's back.

Melvin's words were true, so many people had come to him, to make him an investor. Rejecting them was a natural thing for his boss.

There were not a few companies that had canceled appointments with that man, getting blacklisted from the list of companies getting funds from Melvin for insisting on meeting with that man in person.

"Alright, I'll cancel all your schedules today," he continued. "So, I cancel today's meeting too?"

The elevator doors opened, but Melvin didn't get out of there either, he just stayed silent. "No, no. The meeting will still be in the office."

After saying that, Melvin stepped out of the elevator. The man followed him from behind.

Rangga Jarvis-his assistant, the man who knew everything about him besides his friends. That man-Rangga, loved wearing round glasses, his handsome face did not diminish when glasses were perched on his nose, but that was the charm of the man.

A smart, intelligent man, who made Raka Melvin Mahameru appoint him as his assistant when the man became an OB in Melvin's office 5 years ago, and Rangga also proved that he deserved his current position.

Melvin took off his suit, and placed it on the chair.

"Did you get any information on Renata's whereabouts?"
