I was rooted to the spot with Orion’s lifeless body lying cold in my arms as I stared into space. When I had seen him earlier as he and Gramps arrived, I’d been ecstatic and looked forward to our life together. 

A life that neither Sophia nor anyone else would be able to interfere in or ruin. A life that would be filled with joy and laughter and devoid of secrets because we’d be one big family.
