Rufus’s POV

Watching the game, I tried to focus on the screen. Even the cold beer I sipped didn’t taste as great as it usually did. I missed Freya. She was on my mind, constantly. I couldn’t shake the image of her, but I had to be strong.

‘You can’t keep messing with Freya’s feelings’ Silver said in my mind ‘Your thoughts are loud and keep you distracted, it’s not fair on her’

‘I know,’ I replied with a grunt ‘Which is why I’m not pursuing her anymore. I have to let this die.’

I felt Freya reach out into my mind, attempting to link with me, but I purposely blocked her out ‘I need to let her go.’

‘Freya has not returned in days’ Silver said ‘Are you not concerned?’

‘I should be,’ I said in reply ‘Of course I’m concerned, but I just can’t get involved anymore, I’ll only keep hurting her. Freya deserves someone better, someone who can give her what she needs.’

‘Very well,’ Silver sighed ‘You only have yourself to blame.’
