Chapter 54. Sounds from the Basement
Nathan’s POV
Hearing my Mother retell the story of The Wilson’s, and as many times as I had heard the story, and had lived some of it, I still felt elation. Especially now, and my eyes adoring Freya as she sat and listened to my Mother’s every word, made me realize I was falling in love with her.
“Well,” Elaine said with a pause. “I should leave you two to pack for your honeymoon!” A big grin spread across her proud face. “Everything is falling into place.”
I noticed my Mother’s eyes shift to Freya as she said these words, studying her carefully. “Nathan, you take care of her now.”
I nodded. “Yes Mother,” I didn’t feel the need to give a sarcastic answer, I wanted to protect and take care of Freya for the rest of our lives.
Watching my parents leave the room, my Father gave me a swift nod of appreciation as he muttered the word. “Congratulations,” before following my Mother out of the bedroom. My eyes swiftly snapped to Freya once more.
