Chapter 65. The Visitor

Nathan’s POV

“I don’t understand, Nathan!” Elaine began to screech as her berating became more obnoxious. “That’s twice now you’ve failed to marry Freya, why can’t you keep her interested?”

“I don’t know Mother!” My voice raised as I argued back. “Perhaps if I had that answer, one wedding would have been enough!”

“Don’t you raise your voice at me you vapid little man,” Elaine spat her words. “You are becoming so close to being cast away from this pack.”

I titled my head slightly at my Mother’s idiotic threat. “You can’t cast me out you moron, I’m the Alpha of this pack.”

Elaine stormed up to me, her hand outstretched as her palm struck against the side of my cheek. “How dare you talk to me in that manner! You wretched child,” Tears began to stream down her cheeks, but I wasn’t falling for her crocodile tears, not this time. “All I wanted was Freya’s abilities, to extract them and give them to you. That was my gift for you, my only beautiful son.”
