Chapter 138. Thorned Rooms and Familiar Demons
Silvia POV
Why was the door locked?
I grabbed the handle hard, twisted it nothing. Not even a click.
Great. Justgreat.
The whole drive here, I told myself if something felt off, if things went sideways, I could just get out.
Pop open the door. Run. Figure it out.
I hadn’t put much stock in this trip being safe, but I had at least clung to the illusion of an exit strategy.
Now even that was gone.
My gut knotted tighter than a coiled spring.
I sat frozen, glaring at the door like it owed me answers.
That’s when I saw his reflection on the passenger-side window.Alpha Enzo. Calm as ever.
Moving around the front of the SUV with the kind of control that didn’t need speed to feel like a threat.
He wasn’t rushing. He knew I’d wait.
That I had nowhere else to go.And maybe he was right.
When he opened my door, I flinched purely on instinctlike he might yank me out or shove me back.
He didn’t.
