Sherman POV
I couldn’t believe my ears. “You’re seriously worried about that right now?”
My eyes locked onto Silvia’s face, my voice thick with disbelief.
She lay beside me, her slender body wrapped in soft linen sheets, bandaged hands resting uselessly at her sides.
Yet the mischievous gleam in her eyes when she looked up at me showed she wasn’t dwelling on our recent brush with death.
“I have a contract to fulfill, don’t I?” She furrowed her brow, feigning seriousness.
I snorted and turned to stare at the ceiling.
“What kind of man do you think I am? I wouldn’t force an injured person to do that, Silvia.”
The words tasted bitter coming out.
The mere suggestion made my stomach turn.
But then I heard her laughlight and carefree.
“Relax, Alpha,” she said, still giggling. “I’m just teasing you. I know you’re not that kind of man.”
I swallowed hard, forcing myself to breathe evenly.
