Sleep had abandoned me completely.

The night dragged on endlessly while questions swarmed through my mind like angry wasps, each one more venomous than the last. I lay there staring at the ceiling, watching shadows dance across the cracked plaster as streetlights filtered through my thin curtains.

Check your phone. 2:47 AM.

Count the water stains. One, two, three...

Roll over. Close eyes. Try again.

Nothing worked. My mind refused to quiet, spinning in endless circles since Alpha Enzo had dropped his devastating bombshell on my life.
